Business Objectives
The inventory asks for the business objective of the business process you are documenting. Outline why your system is needed and its benefits for students, faculty, staff and/or the university community.
What is helpful in describing business objectives?
The purpose is to state the main objectives (the reasons for the system existing) along with additional objectives (the benefits achieved, almost as side-effects, not the reasons for having the system). The system objectives should be listed as a concise statement.
Any special requirements or constraints should be stated. For example, state whether there are federal regulations or university policy requirements the objectives or system functionalty provide. If so, indicate the specific policy this compliance is associated with.
