Social Login is a component of the ESR Enterprise Identity Management (EIM) project that  makes it easier and more secure for alumni and those without a UC San Diego login to access relevant campus resources and services.

The service – provided by Cirrus Identity – allows external members of the UC San Diego community to securely access select university resources using their Google, Microsoft or LinkedIn accounts.

The Social Login service is a user-friendly solution integrated with select existing university applications to provide a simple, seamless login experience using login information that is familiar to the user. Social Login not only makes it easier for our extended community to request access to resources through self-service, it also streamlines and automates the processes behind these requests.

Status

Alumni Social Login is Live

In partnership with the Office of the Registrar, the first Social Login integration went live in May 2020 with over 1,500 alumni logins in its first few weeks after launch.

Alumni Social Login simplifies the way university graduates request transcripts and view their academic history, providing immediate access to records and eliminating the need to remember personal IDs or access codes after graduation.

The EIM project team is evaluating future Social Login integration opportunities.
