Campus LISA FAQ

These questions were taken at the Campus LISA 2021 session "Understanding Today, Preparing for Tomorrow" on September 30, 2021.

Contact the project team at esr-student@ucsd.edu with additional questions or comments.

Will the SIS program be reviewed for privacy issues?

As part of our standard procurement process, we include the UC Data Security & Privacy appendix with any supplier that we ultimately contract, and outline which privacy requirements apply based on the scope of the procurement. Here’s the full list for reference:

  • California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act (CMIA) *
  • California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)

When will we learn how to use the new SIS? Are we building in time for hands-on training in a development environment before go-live?

The project plan and change management plan include training for all users, tailored to their needs and/or roles. Exactly when and how that training will be delivered is still to be determined.

Is there an analysis to compare the work that has been done and future work effort vs. [modernizing] ISIS?

The SIS team and Information Technology Services (ITS) leadership have completed analysis of the implications of keeping ISIS versus implementing a new SIS. The results of that analysis clearly show that ISIS is past its end of life, would be more expensive to maintain than a new SIS and cannot meet the demands of a modern R1 institution such as UC San Diego.

Will this system be integrated with Oracle Financial Cloud (OFC) for financial reporting?

In the future state, reporting will be accomplished via the new Activity Hubs. The Activity Hubs will have the ability to blend data from various sources, including the SIS and the Financial Information System (FIS).

Work building these reports is already underway. We plan to have our reporting needs fully remediated before the new system Go Live.

Will you hire interns/recent graduates in the project?

ITS is working hard to expand our experiential learning opportunities and currently employs a number of student workers. Implementing a new SIS will create several unique and interesting opportunities for UC San Diego students to get involved in the project.

Is SIS the last ESR project?

There are a number of ongoing ESR projects. For more information about the projects, please visit the ESR program website.

When will student data to the Data Warehouse stop being updated?

Once the new SIS is implemented, and our current SIS goes offline we will no longer be putting student data into the Data Warehouse. All new student data will be available via our Activity Hubs, BI tools (Cognos and Tableau) and integrations.

How should I begin remediation of my downstream applications?

Please follow the steps outlined at our Continuity Planning website and if you have any additional questions you can email esr-continuity@ucsd.edu.
