Triton Student System (TSS): Demonstrations Recap

We know many members of the university community are eager to learn and see how the new student information system will affect their daily workload and current processes. In response, the Triton Student System (TSS) Project showcased different functionalities to university audiences beginning in Fall Quarter 2025.

As the new student information system is being developed and built, and portions of ISIS and other applications are either affected or retired, we know the change could be a source of anxiety with the quickly approaching launch date of the TSS in the summer of 2026. Our main objective in providing these demos was to highlight the new TSS and to alleviate any concerns staff and faculty may experience  due to the tremendous amount of change on the horizon.

LIVE FROM UC SAN DIEGO, IT’S THE TSS DEMONSTRATIONS

By the end of 2025, a total of four live demonstrations were held, focused on functionalities used by student-facing staff to prepare them to be at the forefront once TSS rolls-out to the wider university community (see our Major Milestones document for more details). All demos were held live and well attended, with attendance peaking at nearly 400 participants. We value the experience and perspectives the campus community brings and reserved this space to ask live questions and be able to speak about their concerns in real-time.

The majority of the demonstrations focused on applications that were relevant to both Main Campus and the Division of Extended Studies (DES). The first 2 demos, Student Experience 1 & 2, focused on the students’ user experience, specifically how to edit personal details, such as lived names, addresses, and contact methods. Participants saw how students can view their holds, waitlist information, privacy settings, schedule of classes and enroll in courses. The third demonstration focused on the new grading functionality within TSS as we will be transitioning away from eGrades. Participants learned how to import and export grades, assign authorized graders and manually add in grades. The fourth demo was exclusively for our DES colleagues, who will be using a different scheduling software than Main Campus. DES participants learned how the data flow will affect scheduling, new terminology in use with TSS, and how to create new courses.

Collaboration

The TSS demos are a team-wide effort, including technical project managers, configuration, and organizational change management, however; we also count on support from subject matter experts all throughout the university. From providing mock data to test a new functionality, to the programmers and engineers building the applications, to the business process owners who shared key information on how the new processes should work, thank you to everyone who helped make these events a success!

We provided a consolidated list of resources for those of you seeking more in depth information about the demonstrations and the TSS functionalities showcased.
