TSS Project: Holds Process Changes & Job Aid Available
Posted on: 7/30/2026
Thanks so much for your ongoing patience and understanding while we continue the transition to the Triton Student System (TSS). Holds are now active in TSS and to support the changes in processes, a Managing Holds from the Student File Job Aid resource has been created and is available on our TSS Training webpage under Holds.
Major Changes
- Holds are placed on a student’s program of study, rather than on the student record. Under TSS, a student has a single student record but may have multiple programs of study across main campus and the Division of Extended Studies (DES). Holds will now only be active under a program study instead of as whole for the student eliminating one hold from impacting another program of study.
- Holds in TSS are date-bound, and need both a start date and end date to apply. If you want to leave a hold open-ended, it should have an end date formatted as “12/31/9999.”
- Holds now have either an Active or Inactive status. Active holds will have a green icon on the student’s file. Inactive holds are shown with black diamonds and will not be enforced regardless of the date. When you are ending a hold, you can either update the end date to lift the hold, or you can inactivate the hold, which has the effect.
Recommendation: When removing a hold in TSS, it’s best practice to change both the end date and change the status to ‘inactive.’
