TSS Schedule of Classes Functionality
As we've shared throughout this transition to TSS, this initial release has been designed to deliver a basic, mission-critical set of capabilities — not full feature parity or a fully polished experience from day one. The Schedule of Classes (SoC) is no exception. We know there are gaps and we are actively working through them. Please read below to learn more.
ACTIVELY BEING ADDRESSED
The following items are actively being addressed and expected to be resolved this week. As we roll out fixes, you may notice some appear in certain places before others. That's expected, and we appreciate your patience as everything catches up.
- Formatting changes that will better display multiple locations for where the class section is meeting
- Intermittent slow loading times
ADDRESSED IN THE NEXT 2-3 WEEKS
- Classes with multiple instructors not yet showing all instructors on the section
RESOLVED AS OF JULY 14
- Course materials fees are now fully displaying
WORKING AS EXPECTED; NO CHANGES PLANNED FOR FALL 2026
- Section notes don't show in the SoC listing itself, but students see them one step later, on the My Modules screen once they select a section.
- For variable-unit courses, the SoC currently displays only the course-approval unit range, not a department-set fixed value. If your department has set a fixed unit value on a variable-unit offering, be aware that students will see the range (not your fixed number) in the SoC listing. The correct fixed value does display once students reach My Modules to book.
- Viewing multiple sections side-by-side is not available in TSS. We know this is a change from the current SoC, and this was an intentional choice to protect the system from slowdowns and security risk from automated scraping. Alternative workarounds to support your work may include:
- Utilizing multiple browser windows. Pull up the Schedule of Classes and search for the class. Then, right click the browser tab and click "duplicate".... a new tab appears and you can adjust the search to the next class you want to find.
- The Look in the ISA might be the best place to get an 'all classes at once' view. If you search for the whole department (i.e. physics or chemistry), then all classes are on the left side of the screen, and the right pane is the class. When you click into the next class on the left, it will then populate on the right where you can see the enrollment count for each section.
A NOTE ON THE SCHEDULING TEAM’S ONGOING WORK
- The Registrar scheduling team is working through a backlog of Fall 2026 change requests, made harder by TSS access disruptions over the past month. They're moving as fast as they can, and we'd ask that you hold off on following up unless your request in ISA is marked done.
- Some courses also don't yet have their course approvals loaded into TSS. There's currently no way to estimate whether a given approval will land before enrollment opens; your department will be contacted directly once it's loaded, validated, and ready to go live. As listed above, displaying multiple or co-instructors in SoC also isn't possible yet, but is expected in the coming weeks.
QUESTIONS
- The SoC pulls enrollment requirements (prerequisites, corequisites, restrictions, department authorization, test requirements) directly from the course approval in CourseLeaf. If you spot an error with any of those items, please don't contact the scheduling team directly. Email tss@ucsd.edu with the course and what you're seeing versus what you expect; fixing these is a joint effort between the Registrar and TSS teams.
- For the SoC interface, student booking, Triton Enrollment Authorization (TEA), or waitlist functionality, email tss@ucsd.edu and a SNOW ticket will be opened for you.
This won't be the last bumpy stretch of this rollout. Thank you for continuing to meet it with patience, and for extending grace to the people working through it alongside you.
