Update on TEA Admin App functionality for initial launch

Key Takeaway: TEA will launch with the core functionality needed for students to submit requests and for staff to review and process those requests. However, department self-service access to update department- and course-level settings through the TEA Admin app will not be available at initial launch. That functionality will be introduced in a future release.

For most users, this means the core request and review process available in TEA will be as similar to the current EASy experience as possible. The main temporary change is that departments will not be able to self-manage administrative configuration settings directly in TEA at launch.

Based on current planning, this temporary approach is expected to apply to Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 booking, with TEA Admin functionality targeted for Spring 2027 Booking. Additional updates will be shared as planning is finalized.

Action: Review EASy configuration values

Current EASy configuration values, including applicable course settings and department approver assignments, will be migrated and used as the starting point for TEA implementation.

The project team will take a snapshot of current EASy configuration values on June 29. Departments should review any department- or course-level settings and approver assignments in EASy before that date if there are updates they need reflected as the starting point in TEA.

Departments may also review the standard TEA request type workflows and Special Studies core questions that will be used at launch:

What will be available at initial launch

The initial TEA release will include:

  • TEA Request, where students submit enrollment authorization requests
  • TEA Review, where staff review and process requests
  • Standard workflows established in partnership with the Registrar’s Office
  • Existing EASy configuration values and department approver assignments carried forward where possible

What will come later

The TEA Admin app will be introduced in a future release. When available, it will allow designated department administrators to manage selected course and request settings directly in TEA, including course-specific settings, custom Special Studies questions, available request types and selected workflow routing options within centrally set parameters.

Department approver updates will be managed separately through ‘Relationship Manager’. This functionality will not be broadly available during the initial transition period, so approver updates will be supported through an interim process until broader access is available.

Current planning targets TEA Admin functionality for Spring 2027 Booking, with the exact timing still to be confirmed. Additional updates will be shared as planning is finalized.

What this means for departments

At the initial launch of TEA, departments will temporarily lose the ability to self-manage and update department- and course-level settings. Instead, standard workflows will be used by default, with existing EASy settings carried forward where possible based on the June 29 snapshot.

For Special Studies requests, the core set of questions from EASy will be configured in TEA and must be answered before a request can be submitted. Departments with custom Special Studies questions will continue to use those questions in addition to the core questions.

Where instructor review is needed but is not included in the default workflow, staff reviewers may route requests to instructors within TEA Review as part of the review process.

Support during the interim period

During the interim period, departments may request support if they need to add or remove department approvers due to staffing changes or role transitions

Thank you for your continued partnership as we move from EASy to TEA. We appreciate your patience as we prioritize a stable launch experience and continue to phase in additional functionality.

Best,
