Preparing for Go Live: FSPT Stipends Module Access and Timeline

The Financial Support Payments Tool (FSPT) Project team is gearing up for an exciting milestone: the Stipends Module go live in late Fall 2025. This module launch marks a major step in modernizing how UC San Diego processes graduate student funding.

User preparation remains a key focus as we near go live, with continued work on access and training for campus users. With much of the groundwork complete, the team is now turning its attention to helping users get ready for the system’s debut and the first stipend disbursements in FSPT this January 2026.

Preparing for Access

Between now and late Fall, access preparation is the top priority for end users. Anyone who enters and reviews stipend payments will need to complete the required training and receive access before using the new system. End users will submit separate access requests for each phase: first for Quality Assurance (QA), then for Production (PROD).

Phase 1: Quality Assurance (QA) Access - Complete by Oct. 31 or ASAP

The QA environment is a training and testing space that gives users the opportunity to learn the system before going live.

To gain QA access, users must complete three prerequisite trainings in the UC Learning Center:

Once the three above trainings are complete, users must submit the Service Now (SNOW) form for QA access and obtain supervisor approval.

Phase 2: Production (PROD) Access - Request Starting December 4, 2025

The PROD environment is the live environment where stipend payments are entered and posted to the Triton Student System (TSS) and Oracle Financial Cloud (OFC).

Users will be granted production access only after successfully completing:

  • QA Training and Access (as listed above)
  • FSPT Stipends Training (November & December)
  • FSPT Training Assessment (December)

Once the above items are complete, users must submit the Service Now (SNOW) form again for PROD access and obtain supervisor approval.

Completing all of these steps ensure that all users are fully prepared for live operations.

What to Expect During the Transition

In preparation for go live, the FSPT team will conduct a one-week cutover period to migrate data from the current Financial Support Request Tool (FSRT) to the new FSPT. During this period, data migration will take place and the FSRT will be temporarily offline for any stipend entries, though it will remain available for other entries. All end users will be notified in advance of when the FSRT becomes unavailable to ensure departments can plan accordingly.

Because this transition includes a brief offline period, users are encouraged to review and plan around the key dates below to stay on track and ensure all stipend entries are completed ahead of the cutover period.

Here are key dates* to keep in mind for the cutover period (*dates are subject to change):

  • November 7
    • Enter ALL stipends into FSRT:
      • November 2025 stipends (required)
      • December 2025 stipends (strongly recommended)
      • January-June 2026 stipends you want migrated by the project team to FSPT
  • November 10 - 14
    • Cutover period— Both FSRT and FSPT will be unavailable due to data migration. No stipend entries possible during this week!
  • November 17
    • FSRT back online for December stipends
  • November 21
    • Final deadline for December Stipends in FSRT if not entered by November 7 (last disbursement period entered in FSRT)
  • December 8
    • FSPT Stipends go live— end users can begin getting access to PROD

After go live on December 8, 2025, stipend entries and processing will move to FSPT for all future stipend disbursement periods beginning with January 2026. Any retroactive payments or adjustments to stipends paid in FSRT through the December 2025 disbursement period will still be transacted in the FSRT (there is no processing overlap in stipend periods between FSRT and FSPT). Fee remissions and fee payments will remain in FSRT until their modules launch in late 2026 (dates are subject to change).

Your Required Action

If you are a user of FSRT, we encourage you to begin the mandatory prerequisite trainings for QA access as soon as possible. In addition to completing the required trainings, be sure to submit the SNOW form and obtain supervisor approval. Completing these items early ensures access requests can be processed smoothly and positions users to participate in upcoming training activities, which are expected to launch early November.
