Student Holds Freeze
UC San Diego’s transition from ISIS to the Triton Student System (TSS) continues to make accelerated progress towards initial launch. The last day to place, remove and/or edit holds for continuing students in ISIS will be Tuesday, June 30, 2026, as holds will be transferred from TSS to ISIS on July 1. We anticipate holds to become available in TSS in early July.
A Campus Notice regarding when and how to gain access to TSS for staff is forthcoming. In the meantime, please review our Knowledge Base Article (KBA) on TSS Roles and Access.
Action Required
Please plan accordingly to make sure that the relevant holds are in place in the correct system for summer and fall course booking.
- All new holds that should be effective when TSS goes live in mid-July must be placed in ISIS by June 30, 2026. These holds will transfer to TSS on July 1, 2026, and will prevent all enrollment from July 1, 2026 and forward in both ISIS and TSS. If a hold needs to be placed on a student record after June 30, 2026, it should be placed in TSS, once it is live.
- Staff outside of central units (Registrar, Student Financial Solutions, Housing, GEPA and Admissions) will not be able to update holds in TSS until it becomes available in early July. Impacted units will need to individually track transactions that occur within this freeze period and manually edit the hold in TSS once it becomes available to allow/prevent fall 2026 enrollment.
- The current and active start and end dates for holds will be migrated to TSS. Holds with an end date during the freeze period will automatically end on the specified date.
- Holds relevant only to Summer Session 2026 can and should continue to be placed and removed in ISIS; there is no freeze period for ISIS. If a hold is placed in ISIS on July 1, 2026, or after (with the intention of preventing summer enrollment/transactions only), it would need to be removed in ISIS before the end of September when ISIS becomes read-only or it will become ineffective. If these holds are also relevant to fall quarter 2026, they will need to be manually added in TSS if they are placed in ISIS after June 30, 2026.
Example situations:
- Colleges place May Not Return (MNR) holds on academically disqualified students in ISIS before June 30, 2026. These will automatically transfer to TSS and will prevent all enrollment from July 1, 2026, and forward in both ISIS and TSS.
- For academic integrity or conduct case resolutions that impact summer enrollment, any required holds should be placed in ISIS; for cases that impact fall enrollment (and beyond), any required holds should be placed in ISIS on or before June 30, 2026, or manually in TSS in early July. If a case that impacts both summer and fall is resolved on or after July 1, 2026, the hold should be placed in both systems.
Resources on how to place batch holds in TSS will be available in early July (e.g., college orientation holds, student health holds, mandatory training, etc.). As a reference, we have a spreadsheet with both ISIS and TSS hold codes.
Additional information, training materials and support resources will be available on the TSS website and on the TSS Training website. If you have questions, please contact esr-student@ucsd.edu.
