SIS Project: What You Should Know (February 2024)
Key Project Milestones and Progress
Here's a quick summary of what's happened on the SIS project since January’s newsletter. You can watch the two-minute video summary or review the bullets below. If you have questions or would like more information about any of the following projects, please reach out to us at esr-student@ucsd.edu.
SAP Student Lifecycle Management (SLcM)
The SLcM Project is focused on implementing a new student information system to replace our current system, ISIS, and bring together main campus and Extended Studies on the same system.
- Read more about the ISIS system replacement and check out the system selection FAQs
- Planning for vendor training
- Preparing for the kickoff of the project
- Realigning and backfilling staff
- Onboarding and orienting consultants
Student Financial Planning (SFP)
The SFP Project will replace our current financial aid system, Pro Student Aid Management (ProSAM) with a new system. The SFP implementation team has been hard at work this past month on the following items:
- Completed testing in the College Financing Plan (CFP) environment
Financial Support Payments Tool (FSPT)
The FSPT Project is focused on improving the graduate student funding processing. The Financial Support Request Tool (FSRT) will be replaced by the Financial Support Payments Tool (FSPT) as part of the project. The current work for the project includes:
- Read about the FSPT three phases, development progress and more
- Continued development for phase 1 and 2
- Planning initial testing of basic functionality with subgroup of users
CourseLeaf
The CourseLeaf project will introduce the CourseLeaf Curriculum system (CIM), a single, configurable tool designed to support and streamline the curriculum process, from planning to implementation to assessment. CourseLeaf does not handle course content, which will continue to be managed through the learning management system (LMS), Canvas.
- The CourseLeaf project kicked off for the internal implementation team on January 17th, 2024
- Phase 1 - Course and Program Approvals: This implementation will replace eCourse and go live before the new SIS goes live and will be integrated with ISIS, our existing SIS, in the interim, unless there are unexpected integration issues with ISIS
- Active engagement of the Academic Senate and the newly formed project Advisory and Steering committees has been established
- The implementation team is engaged with the vendor to complete site setup work, gather business requirements and transfer data files
Report Remediation
The Report Remediation Project will create new versions of existing reports using the Student Activity Hub (SAH) as the underlying source for the data, rather than the Data Warehouse or other systems.
- The team continues to work on requirements gathering, remediating reports, and ongoing user acceptance testing (UAT), while meetings continue with stakeholders to discuss the future state of reporting and the remediation process
uAchieve Transfer Articulation
This primary work for the SIS Project will implement transfers and articulations, predefined and one-off, within the existing uAchieve system.
- User acceptance testing (UAT) for AP is currently happening and is planned to be completed by end of February 2024
