SIS Project: What You Should Know (October 2025)

Key Project Milestones and Progress

Here's a quick summary of what's happened on the SIS Project since September’s newsletter. You can watch the two-minute video summary or review the bullets below. If you have questions or would like more information about any of the following projects, please reach out to us at esr-student@ucsd.edu.

Triton Student System (TSS)

We’re implementing a new Triton Student System (TSS) to replace the current student information system (ISIS). This new system will bring Main Campus and the Division of Extended Studies onto one unified platform, making it easier to manage student data and improve the experience for students, faculty, and staff.

Recent progress includes:

  • Ongoing system build and configuration work to prepare for future testing and deployment
  • User acceptance testing has begun with the first three processes released for testing. For more information about the Process Design Groups visit our website
  • Christine Alvarado, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Educational Innovation, and the organizational change management team have held two of four planned listening sessions with subject matter experts (SMEs). These sessions give executive sponsors a chance to hear directly from those closest to the work - ensuring project decisions and the journey reflect real operational needs. Once all sessions are complete, feedback will be shared back with SMEs to close the loop.

Continuity Planning for TSS

To ensure a smooth transition, teams are working on continuity planning - making sure that reports, applications, and integrations continue functioning as the new TSS goes live.

Current work includes:

  • Remediating ITS-managed applications and integrations, which is now underway
  • Collaborating with distributed IT units across campus to support department application and report remediation
  • Working with the TSS Organizational Change Team on gathering documentation relating to data changes and timing that inform remediation designs and timelines

Financial Support Payments Tool (FSPT)

Improving non-employment graduate student funding processing by building a new tool (FSPT) to replace the current Financial Support Request Tool (FSRT)

The FSPT Project team is currently focused on work for the Stipends Module Release, which prioritizes developing the FSPT for non-employment stipend payments for graduate students.

  • As part of our testing and preparation for go live, the team loaded FSRT data into the FSPT quality assurance (QA) environment to catch any bugs and ensure smooth processing
  • Continued cutover (transition) planning and activities to work through critical tasks for transitioning FSRT data into the FSPT
  • Finalized strategic planning for training, communications and university engagements in preparation for launch
  • Developed training and communication assets. Review our recent article regarding getting FSPT access in preparation for going live in late fall
  • Continued assessing stakeholder and end user readiness in preparation for go live
  • Held monthly office hours to address stakeholder questions and concerns

CourseLeaf

Introducing the CourseLeaf curriculum system (CIM) to UC San Diego to support and streamline the curriculum process, from planning to implementation to assessment

  • The CourseLeaf course approval form went live on September 29, 2025 for the Division of Extended Studies (DES)
  • Continued testing for ISIS interim integration and development of integrations with the new student information system, Triton Student System (TSS)
  • Completed regression testing on vendor solutions to validate bug fixes
  • Provided hypercare support to both main campus and DES through office hours, MS Teams, SNOW form tickets, and email updates

Note: CourseLeaf does not handle course content, which will continue to be managed through the learning management system (LMS), Canvas.

uAchieve Transfer Articulation (uAchieve TA)

Implementing transfers and articulations, predefined and one-off, within the existing uAchieve system

  • Collecting and analyzing requirements to prepare for integration of uAchieve with TSS
  • Next steps will involve the integration of uAchieve Transfer Articulations in the Functional Design for the Transcript Receipt and Validation App in TSS, which is related to evaluation of transfer credit process
  • Met with our Articulations Officer this month to discuss the California Common Course Numbering Project. The team is in discussions to propose a process to encode these new courses to all California Community College Transfer Articulation tables
